Supporting Our Communities: SP Cares 2024

March 12, 2024

Originally established in 2020, Solomon Page launched SP Cares, a charitable initiative that supported relief efforts of individuals that were impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since 2020, Solomon Page has continued to grow and evolve the SP Cares initiative – all with the goal of supporting those in need. In recent years, Solomon Page has identified various non-profit organizations to support throughout the year, whether that is through donations, sponsorships, or participating in local events. By applying our core values of trust, respect, and compassion, we advocate for diverse communities both in our neighborhood and worldwide. In 2024, we have partnered with several organizations, many of which have been referred to Solomon Page by internal employees:

Mount Sinai Prostate Cancer Research Gala

The SP Cares January fundraiser raised funds for the Mount Sinai Prostate Cancer Research Gala. The organization's annual gala and initiatives aim to unite scientists, clinicians, patients, and supporters to speed up progress in prostate cancer research. Through funding research and educational programs, they seek to improve patient outcomes, enhance quality of life, and ultimately find a cure. The gala also honors those dedicated to fighting prostate cancer and provides networking, advocacy, and philanthropic opportunities within the community.

The King Center

The SP Cares February fundraiser raised funds for The King Center. The King Center's mission is to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King through education, activism, and advocacy for justice, equality, and nonviolent social change. They inspire communities to embrace Dr. King's principles of love, nonviolence, and reconciliation for a fairer world. Through initiatives, they empower people to address social issues, promote civil and human rights, and bridge divides across race and culture. Aiming to foster dialogue and empathy, The King Center embodies Dr. King's vision of a beloved community where every person is valued.

Girls Inc.

The SP Cares March fundraiser raised funds for Girls Inc. This leadership organization empowers girls across the nation to embody strength, intelligence, and boldness. Envisioning a society that is fair, just, and inclusive for everyone, Girls Inc. is making a meaningful difference in girls' lives by fostering confidence and enhancing skills through mentorship programs and advocacy efforts. Girls Inc. is creating a brighter future for young women, as they continue to break barriers and challenge stereotypes.

The Solomon Page SP Cares April fundraiser supported GrowNYC, an environmental nonprofit that has become a sustainability and community leader in New York City and beyond since its founding in 1970. In addition to fundraising efforts, Solomon Page had the opportunity to interview Marcel Van Ooyen, CEO of GrowNYC, to learn more about the organization’s mission and raise awareness for environmental and food insecurity concerns that not only impact New York City but are amplified nationwide.

St. Jude

The Solomon Page SP Cares May and June fundraiser supported St. Jude. Internationally recognized as a leader in eliminating childhood cancer, St. Jude began with the goal of extending the lives of children, enabling them to thrive. In addition to fundraising efforts, Solomon Page had the opportunity to interview Lizzette Dorado, Market Executive Director, Tri State from ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, to learn more about the organization’s history, mission, and its critical role in raising awareness for childhood cancer that impacts families around the world.
